Choices People Make

Dr. Rosalinda Tamayo and her research partner Dr. Harold Cooper have created one of history’s greatest scientific breakthroughs. Her name is Athena. Now Dr. Roz and Athena are showing up at Roz’s mother’s door with a problem. It turns out that just because Athena and her body are bleeding edge technology doesn’t mean they’re not subject to the same questions women have been grappling with for centuries. (3W, 1M)

Light Delay

Dr. Triona Fitton is working alone in Mission Control to help secure the last minute launch of a colony ship that will take humanity to the stars. On that ship is Lucas, her former fiancé. As the play moves forward, Light Delay tells the story both of humanity’s last chance to spread into the universe and the consequences it has for those left on Earth. But as the characters get farther and farther apart, their communication is interrupted by the delay in light signals between Lucas’s ship and the Earth. In those moments, we see flashbacks working backwards through their relationship from recent breakup to earlier conflicts and the happy moments before. From the seeds of conflict between two people to environmental disaster, Light Delay examines the choices of two people and the world of consequences those decisions create.

Natalie longs to start over; Ruth hopes to make peace with choices she made when she was her granddaughter’s age.
Both are determined to enjoy what could be their last summer together. But how do you manage that when your brain seems to be working against you?
